Dental Restoration in SW Calgary

Dental restoration involves repairing and restoring the function and appearance of damaged teeth. Restorations are used in cases of decay or injury and are intended to prevent further damage to the tooth. Most restorations are made from tooth-coloured materials to match the natural shade of your other teeth.

Fillings

We use fillings to repair cavities caused by decay, and to restore teeth after root canal treatment. Fillings can be made from amalgam or tooth-coloured composite to suit your needs.

Crowns

Crowns, or caps, are used to completely replace a damaged tooth. Crowns have traditionally been made from metal, usually gold, but are now usually made from ceramic or porcelain. They are designed and shaded to match the rest of your other teeth.

Inlays & Onlays

In cases where a tooth can’t be repaired with a filling, but it doesn’t require a crown, we may use a restoration called an inlay. These restorations are created in a dental laboratory and cemented in place in the damaged area. Once they are in place they strengthen the structure of the tooth. Onlays provide additional strength to restore the biting areas of the tooth being repaired.

Bridges

Bridges are the traditional replacement for one or more lost teeth in a row. The bridge is made of the replacement tooth or teeth, and a way of attaching the bridge to the natural teeth on either side of the gap. Most bridges are held in place by dental crowns placed over the adjacent teeth.
